Organizing Nepal’s first bird observatory - KBO

Himalayan Nature has a permanent field centre known as “Kosi Bird Observatory (KBO)” which bears a full four hectare of land at a site just north of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, for the study of biodiversity and bird migration. Government of Nepal has also given full support to this project of establishing a national ringing scheme. Under this project, bird ringing, conservation awareness programs, capacity building program, participatory monitoring programs were being run in and around Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve throughout the year.

There are plans to extend it further in future as we continue to raise funds to support and expand this project.

Through this project we have upgraded the centre that leading towards the better research facility. We have also added safely equipment to support on emergency, small library that provides the information on biodiversity around Koshi.
